An interesting phenomenon has re-emerged in the wake of these tumultuous times. Torrents of words spewing from all directions have gotten America's cultural waters spun and frothing! And in my opinion, none take more flack for their social observations than artists and entertainers. After all, "Just because I pay to watch you perform and stand in line for your work doesn't mean I actually care what you really think or feel! Now dance monkey! Dance!"

Yes, it can be quite annoying and even condescending when someone who pretends to be someone else for a living reprimands us from their house high upon a hill. Or when a half wit singer in a rock band tries his hand at painting and sociopolitical/observational prose.

It still does not deter from the fact that that person has the birth right to do so. And honestly, is it not obvious at this point in history that everyone should be allowed his/her two cents? Chief of staff or ditch digger. Country singer or Cowgirl. Soccer Mom or Socrates. What makes someone an expert in the first place? Time spent? Education? Party contributions? Or dare I say, "experience?"

I am NOT an expert by any stretch of the term. Though having shared air and gravity with ya'll for thirty years has indeed led to the formation of a few humble opinions. Which brings me to my point; SOME OF THE OPINIONS EXPRESSED WITHIN THE FOLDS OF THIS TEXT MIGHT NOT GO DOWN SO WELL WITH THAT HAMBURGER AND FREEDOM FRiES YOU JUST WOLFED. But therein lies the gift! You don't have to agree with me! Or I with you. Cool, huh? So attack, criticize, chime in, fire at will, blog me to death, and correct my spelling. This is a work in progress. "Spirit in action," (to borrow, a new favorite term).

Art is my window and my opportunity to let the butterflies in my stomach fly free. And wether you like how they look or sound in mid flight, know this; "I don't take myself that seriously." I approach language and life with an inherent respect.

And lastly, I will always be eternally grateful for the opportunity and this experience. Love and Light, Brandon
